President: Stavros-Christos Papakyriazis
My name is Stavros-Christos Papakyriazis. I have a bachelor degree in International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus and I am currently in my second undergraduate studies in the faculty of Law at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Through my years of studies I have practiced strategy, historical research and international law. I have participated in various MUNs in Greece, Romania and the United Kingdom and what I have realized by participating in them is that each and every single one of them had something new to offer to me.
This will be my 12th MUN and I am more than eager to hold a chairing position in FredMUN. The one attribute that I am looking to pass on to the next generation of delegates is this simple idea that fun and profession are two sides of the same coin. You cannot have the one without having the other one. My passion for traveling, partying and sharing new experience with others is one of the reasons for choosing to participate in this simulation. Be a part of the heated debate and argumentation that are certainly coming is the other reason.
Because in the end it does not matter if you are a beginner or a seasoned delegate, there is always the chance to better your best! And that is exactly what we are going to do.
So, I am looking forward to meeting you in FredMUN 2018!
Vice President: Yolanda Tsekoura
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Yolanda Tsekoura and I am an undergraduate student in the Law School of Athens. At the same time, my passion for the international affairs led me to an International Relations Minor in the American College of Greece. Being an active member of the academic community, I have participated in International Law Moot Court Competitions, as well as in several Models of International Organizations, both as delegate and as Chairperson. The most outstanding part of the world of simulations is that they give you the chance to meet ambitious young people, ready to seize new opportunities and eager to enhance their skills. Having thus concluded, I would like to mention that the most important thing behind every task achieved, was always the patience and persistence on my goals, therefore do not ever hesitate to pursue your dreams.
Vice President: Triantafyllos Gkaragkanis
Greetings to you all,
My name is Triantafyllos Gkaragkanis and I come from the picturesque town of Nafplio in Greece. I am also 22 years old and currently in the 4th year of my undergraduate studies at the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus. My academic interests include geopolitics, geostrategy and conflict management. Besides my studies, I am Coordinator and Columnist on the website “Power Politics” regarding International Relations and Security. Moreover, I am keen on learning foreign languages (English, German, Spanish and Russian) and I used to be Assistant Researcher at the BRICS Research Group of the University of Piraeus. Furthermore, I have attended various workshops and events (European Youth Event 2018) whereas this summer I am on an internship at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I started my MUN journey 3 years ago and till this point I have participated in simulations concerning the European Union, the United Nations and Regional Organizations, both in Greece and abroad. Therefore, I decided to become part of the “FredMUN Spirit” and I am honored to serve as the Vice-President of the Security Council, the most demanding principal organ of the United Nations where heated debates and controversies prevail. Finally, I urge you to “veto” any concerns and be prepared for an amazing experience at the island of Aphrodite.
1st Committee of the General Assembly
President: Anastasios Mallios
My name is Anastasios Mallios and I am an undergraduate student of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus. My first simulation experience dates back to the Euroscola of 2016 and it had me mesmerised from the first moment. Since then I have participated in numerous Model United Nations (MUNs), simulations of EU bodies as well as of regional UN organisations, both in Greece and internationally all of which have provided me with passion and curiosity for the international community. My passions include learning foreign languages, political history and geopolitics. Participating in simulations as such, I managed to broaden my knowledge of International Relations, discover the academic sector that I want to follow, create concrete friendships and become more complete as a person. Throughout this whole process I had the chance to meet numerous talented, passionate and hard-working young people with whom I shared fruitful debates and long hours of draft making, and I’m certain that this year’s FredMUN delegates will bring that to the table and much more.

I am extremely passionate about delivering a quality conference if we are speaking in terms of simulating the United Nations and I feel more than honored to serve as the President of this years’ 3rd GA Committee. Trust me when I say that apart from the academic level of the Committee, having an experience of a lifetime and meeting new people is on the top of my agenda for this years’ FREDMUN. One of my biggest interests is writing, while other hobbies of mine include travelling all around the world, watching films and TV series, listening to music and playing the piano. And as regards to the debate itself allow me to deliver you a phrase firstly formulated by my favorite TV-Series character (you must know who): “There’s no better way to overpower a trickle of doubt than with a flood of naked truth.”

What I enjoy doing in my free time is playing the piano, reading poetry, going to the cinema and of course travelling as much as I can. Ever since partaking in several simulations back in high school, I've grown to be an MUN enthusiast, joining in more MUN experiences annually, predominantly as a delegate. This is going to be my first time as a chairperson on an academic level and I am beyond excited and humble for this opportunity. My hope is that this year's conference becomes a legitimate and mutually beneficial learning experience for me and the delegates of the ECOSOC committee. I'm aiming at delivering to the best of my abilities, while in the meantime not losing the sense of fun which goes along with MUN simulations.
Here's to an unforgettable FredMUN experience!
